This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Most of the students in my class and school come from Spanish speaking homes. The Spanish teacher or one of the secretaries translates when I communicate with parents, but I would like to learn the language for myself.
I am kindly requesting a Rosetta Stone subscription that will allow me to learn Spanish and communicate with ease with students and their parents.
Presently, I try my best to speak with my ESOL level 1 students in Spanish, but often I must rely on another student to translate for me. As I learn the language, I will impact my current students and my future students.
My ESOL students enjoy science, especially when it is "hands-on" and knowing how to give feedback in their home language will really help them to feel successful.
When I’m through learning Spanish, I will learn another languages, as our school also has families whose first language is not English.
Thank you for your generous donation to help me become a more effective teacher.
