My Students

My students come from a high poverty area. They face many challenges at home and in school. Many of them are lacking in basic school supplies. Most are low academically, but they come to school every day, ready and eager to learn.

I want my students to have the best third grade experience possible.

Our school budget is very small, and I buy a lot of materials myself. I need some help to give my students what they need to be more successful in the classroom. I cannot control what my students experience outside of school, but, while they are in my classroom, I strive to provide them with everything I can to make them feel cared for and successful.

My Project

Going back to school during the midst of a pandemic is a daunting task. With the way my classroom is currently set up, there are so many "community" items that we all share.

How can I effectively teach my students and help keep them as safe as possible at the same time?

My goal is to give them their own individual space and supplies whenever possible. This is a huge change for me, as I have always stressed the importance of sharing and community in the past.

These supplies will give my classroom a huge jump start towards this goal and towards promoting safety and distancing while we are at school!
