Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Step into our classroom for a moment—it’s colorful, a little noisy, and absolutely bursting with energy. In this space, my kindergarten and first-grade students are constantly creating: books, signs, models, posters, wild inventions made from scraps. To them, learning looks like doing. That’s why we need materials like the Crayola marker classpack, glue sticks, sturdy tagboard, and construction paper. These aren’t just art supplies—they’re bridges between imagination and understanding. The Sharpie markers bring clarity and pride to student work, especially when we label science models, anchor charts, or display writing in the hallway. These tools help all students—especially those who need visual or tactile ways to express their thinking—participate fully and joyfully.
Behind every joyful, creative classroom is a quiet backbone of structure, care, and intentional tools that make it all possible.
For young learners still developing fine motor skills and classroom routines, the right materials matter. We use short, triangular Ticonderoga pencils designed for early writers. Tissues and hand sanitizer keep us healthy, and colorful file folders hold personalized work, game boards, and differentiated activities. These basics are what make our classroom feel organized, safe, and welcoming—so students can focus on learning.
Even the simplest items—paper plates, coffee filters, cleaning wipes—have purpose here. Plates become paint trays or STEM platforms. Coffee filters are tools for sorting, blending colors, or conducting science experiments. Clorox wipes reset our room in between, helping us move smoothly from one adventure to the next. Every item requested supports a classroom built on curiosity, care, and creativity—where students feel empowered, valued, and ready to explore.
