My Project
I have returned to the classroom this school year to help fill an allocation for a full-time, self-contained autism classroom at the elementary level. My kiddos are considered low functioning Autism and need both adaptive and academic resources to be successful.
With their growing academic capacity, behavioral and calming supports are essential for them to experience time in the general education environment.
When given the proper tools and taught how and when to utilize them, they will be able to navigate their way socially, behaviorally, and emotionally.
The few items that we currently have allow a couple of my kiddos the opportunity to attend lunch, recess, assemblies, and specials (art, music, gym), appropriately self-regulating when necessary. I would appreciate growing this collection of resources in hopes of my kiddos all being able to go out consistently and successfully.
