Help me give my students hands-on and engaging resources such as caddies and alphabet punches for them to use during centers at the beginning of the year, while they are learning important foundational skills for reading.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are an incredible group of five and six year olds who are growing up in the inner city. Our school is Title I and provides them with both breakfast and lunch to ensure they are not going hungry. Many of my students' families struggle financially.
Nevertheless, they come to school excited about learning every day and I do my best to give them exciting and engaging ways to learn.
I am inspired daily by the passion they have for school! My students and their families have such a commitment to their learning despite all of their hardships.
My Project
My students are all learning very important, foundational skills for reading. Most come to my classroom not knowing any letters or sounds, and leave being able to read.
We need more resources for them to use during small group reading time and centers.
These resources are all hands-on, engaging, and exciting for them to use. My students will use resources like the Light Table Alphabet Tracing Tiles and the Easy-Punch Alphabet during our center time to aide them in learning important foundational skills. We will use the caddies to stay organized in our classroom.
I want to instill a sense of fun in my students when it comes to learning to read! These skills are so important for them to learn, and I want them to look forward to and enjoy the time we spend learning to read.
