My Students
This will be the first year for the Culinary Arts Program at our high school. The students are excited about exploring and studying for future career opportunities. Students are excited about having another opportunity to study a new program within the Career and Technical Education program. The positive energy from the kids about the Culinary Arts Program is awesome! I am truly excited to be teaching the culinary classes. I want to make sure the program starts strong and engaging because these kids deserve it!
My Project
Brand new to our school this year is culinary arts! I have 6 culinary classes that are full of excited 9-12th graders. I would like to begin basic skills such as knife skills, but we are lacking enough knives, cutting boards, and bowls for effective practice. Simply demonstrating skills is not enough.
Students need to have time and supplies to practice.
Knife skills are ongoing throughout this practice. Starting hands on practice NOW is critical in order to build a strong program for our students. This is a phenomenal opportunity for our students to build a background in Culinary Arts, whether they stay in hospitality or branch out and create their own business.
