My Students
I want my students to develop a love for reading and writing. The only way to do that is to provide them with books that they actually want to read!
My students are resilient, intelligent, and energetic 7th graders from Boston.
Our students are happy to come to school each day and we work really hard to make it a positive learning experience. Many of them are slightly below reading on grade level and because of that, many do not like reading by themselves, but love reading with me!
My Project
Independent reading is critical to promoting literacy and comprehension, which are essential skills across all content areas. Instead of telling my students what books to read, my goal is to give them access to all different types of books that have been ordered based on their specific interest areas. They were all so excited to put in their requests!
Most adults know what it is like to read a good book.
You become engrossed in a story and you can't wait to turn the page! I want to share the joy of reading with my students, and provide them with books they want to read. This will help me accomplish my goal and help my students improve their literacy skills. Thank you for your support!
