Our large class of 29 students is a group of avid readers. They enjoy reading, but often stick to authors and series they know. There is a wide range of reading levels and I would like to add to the number of choices they have. I am looking to challenge them to read books that are outside their comfort zone. What a better way to do this than to add to our collection of Readbox options? Students will be able to borrow books to take home without depleting our class library.
My Project
Students will use these books and movies to compare and contrast versions of the same story. Reluctant readers as well as those still learning English will be able to practice comprehension in a more motivating way. We will improve our listening comprehension also.
Never judge a book by its cover or its movie!
Students will need to think critically as they produce movie reviews to share with classmates. They will also choose a book that has not been made into a movie and write to persuade others that the book is a good candidate to be made into a film. Projects may include movie scripts, scenery, and creation of advertising posters.
