Beef Reproduction

My students need accessories (EaziBreed CIDR Cattle Insert, Preserved Reproductive Tract of Cow, and Cow Reproductive Organs Model) to mock perform artificial insemination in beef cattle.

My Students

Upper level high school students are interested in genetics (increasing ways to expand beef herds in the area).

Students are from a rural, small farm based area in Missouri.

They are interested in supporting school spirit and learn how to get what they want by working towards their goals. High school upper level agriculture students should be allowed to increase their learning levels with this project.

My Project

My students will use these materials provided (EaziBreed CIDR Cattle Insert, Preserved Reproductive Tract of Cow, and Cow Reproductive Organs Model) in an upper level animal science class to learn how to artificially inseminate beef cows using the models provided in the project, so they will be more ready to participate in the real life functionality of artificial insemination in the real world. Students are from a rural, beef cattle background, so they would benefit with increasing the genetics of their herds by providing a bull's genetics to herds that would not be able to make an expensive purchase of a bull.

This project will allow students to learn hands-on, rather than reading how to do things out of a textbook.

Learning by doing is much more effective in an agricultural setting than textbook and notes.
