My Project
Our pollinator garden project will help students learn science in a fun and hands-on way. The raised garden bed planter box will give us a special place to grow flowers and plants. The potting soil and vermiculite will help the seeds grow strong and healthy. We picked lots of flower seeds that attract bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds. These include wildflower seed mixes for partial shade, butterflies, hummingbirds, and bees, plus milkweed, echinacea, fast-blooming flowers, marigolds, and more. Students will get to see how different flowers bring different pollinators to our garden.
We also chose items to help pollinators feel welcome.
The bird seed, hummingbird nectar, hummingbird feeders, and two types of bird baths will give birds and pollinators food and water. With the watering wand, students will take turns watering the plants and learn how to take care of a garden. These tools will help kids see how animals and plants work together in nature.
The goal of this project is to help students grow their science knowledge, teamwork, and love for nature. Many of my students don’t have gardens at home, but they are excited to help the planet and take care of pollinators. They are curious, caring, and ready to make a difference. With these supplies, they will build a beautiful space, learn new things, and feel proud of what they’ve created together.
