This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our scholars are a phenomenal group of kids from highly diverse backgrounds. Our socioeconomic diversity allows us to bring together students from various communities throughout our city to create a unique, collaborative environment. No matter where they come from, our scholars enter class excited and eager to learn. A typical day in our classroom is filled with creativity, passion, and energy!

My students have unlimited potential and believe in their own infinite possibilities.

They truly are the kindest, most thoughtful children I've ever had the pleasure of working with and absolutely deserve the best educational experience that they can receive.

My Project

I am requesting a library of professional texts related to best practices in student engagement, classroom management, and reading instruction. With these texts, my fellow 5th grade teachers and I will nearly double our supply of professional resources.

Reading is a basic tool for a good life not just for students, but also for teachers.

Acquiring professional resources, such as these texts, serves to re-professionalize teaching. Because these texts will be placed into a teacher library, their impact will stretch for years. With these resources, I can work collaboratively with my peers to grow as a teacher and educational leader, and our school culture and students will benefit in the process.
