Becoming Real CHANGE-makers Using Innovation, Creativity, and Technology
Help me give my students an inspirational book to get them started on designing a solution to a problem in their communities in order to become real-life changemakers.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
These books will be used as a practical guide to how my students will implement their 8th-grade culminating project where they will work in collaborative teams to identify a problem in their community and design a piece of innovation or technology to help make real-change toward that problem. Each student will have their own copy of this inspiring guide, which takes them through the design process--an integral part of the mission of our Arts and Technology magnet.
This inspiring guide will provide a blueprint on how our students can make a real difference in their communities, providing both the practical and the inspirational knowledge for these young minds to create change.
Supporting all academic areas in the process, this guide will provide all the tools necessary for the students to meet their innovation goals of fulfilling a need for the community. From research to literacy, from design to testing, and from collaborating on a team to fundraising and recruiting experts, this book enables our students to become the entrepreneurs of change and real-life activists, with skills that will last a lifetime.
The 8th-grade core team of history, English, math, and science classes will all then guide the students to identifying a need, brainstorming solutions based on personal passions, utilizing the design principles in creating and testing a prototype, and presenting their final innovation to the public as a solution to a community need.
