Kindergarten is such a big step in a child's life. It is exciting for both the parent and the child when they arrive on the first day of school. My students are eager to learn, and I am eager to teach them. I love to see the growth that comes in Kindergarten.
Kindergarten is the first school experience that a child has and I want them to gain a love for learning along with a solid foundation in reading skills.
My students are eager to begin reading and love putting their phonics skills to use when blending words. I love seeing their determination when it comes to reading and I can't wait to put more books into their hands for them to practice with.
My Project
Having beginning level readers will make a huge difference in my class as we learn to read. With these books, we will be able to take the letters and sounds that we have learned and apply that knowledge to reading. Many students feel bad because they feel like they have to know all of their letters and sounds before they can start to read. Having little readers will make it so they can start reading books as they learn letters and sounds. I can't wait to show them that they can start to read right from the beginning of phonics.
During our small group, students will be able to use the little readers to practice their phonics skills giving them confidence that they are readers.
I want them to feel successful all along the way as we set the foundation of reading.
