My Students
My students are a vibrant and engaging group of 8th graders who become deeply interested in reading when they feel motivated and involved. Many of my students are struggling readers who have never completed an entire book. I am hoping, as their teacher, to change that!
My students are bright, thoughtful and a joy to teach.
Many come from homes, however, that struggle financially and buying books is simply not an option. In addition, many of my students come from families in which English is not spoken at home, so they really struggle with reading on their own. It is my hope to inspire and motivate them in a way that will make reading a part of their everyday lives.
My Project
These students will use these books to deepen their understanding of reading and literature. These books are challenging, but will provide the opportunity for students to engage with each other and navigate this marvelous text. Students will read the book, do creative projects related to the reading and will make comparisons between the text and film version.
This project will make a difference because I believe this story will truly engage and challenge my students.
They will learn the true story of a heroic American and will also learn that people can triumph over the hardships they encounter in life.
