My Students
Many of my students come from low-income households or are in families that are in transition to finding a new place to live. When my fourth graders come into the classroom they are excited and ready to learn, even when it comes to a subject they may struggle in.
I want to provide my students with the safest and happiest environment that they can have when they enter my classroom.
My students come from an impoverished urban area and many of them deal with emotional trauma and learning barriers on a daily basis. My students deserve to be able to continue their love for learning and feel safe and comfortable while doing so.
My Project
I am a big believer in allowing my students to spread out, pick their own space, and get comfortable when learning and working. Implementing new choices for flexible seating in my classroom will allow students to efficiently increase their focus towards learning.
My students constantly prove to me that they are working more efficiently and more comfortably when given a choice of where to sit.
My students would use the 5 plastic stools when joining me for guided reading groups. Students would be able to use the wobble cushions when choosing new areas in the room to comfortably work. The geography carpet would give my students a cozy place to meet as an entire class or work individually or in groups.
By allowing my students to have more choice seating, they will be positively affected in the classroom as I see their drive towards learning increase when they are in a safe and relaxed environment.
