My Project

In my classroom, we learn just about everything through art. I teach a special education gifted pull-out, which means we're engaged in inquiry-based exploration about everything from mathematics to aviation history. We're thinking deep thoughts and the best way to express our deep thoughts is through the creative arts and writing.

Art doesn't just help us develop our eye for beauty and our fine motor skills; it helps us explore a variety of materials, acknowledge and push the limits of what we can make, and appreciate the other artists around us.

This project would give my classroom a "refresh" of the most frequently used items I run out of every year: high quality paint, rubber cement for collage, printing ink, and of course, excellent watercolors. I also added erasers because art often begins with sketching. First we explore a topic, then comes art, and finally we write to and with our art to lock in and share our learning. Please participate in this rich cycle by helping equip my classroom so we become art smart learners.
