We are located in a small, rural town at a Title I school in North Carolina. The students in my class are energetic, hard-working, and enthusiastic. They care for one another like a family, encouraging one another to do their best every day. They love to learn about new topics they've never explored before!
My students' reading abilities span several grade levels, but they all have one common goal: to grow into even better readers by the end of the school year.
My Project
Earlier this school year, I purchased the Hey Jack! book series for my students to help those who were hesitant to move from reading picture books to chapter books. My students have LOVED them! The Billie B. Brown books are companions to the Hey Jack! series, but with a girly spin. They have short, easy-to-remember chapters that increase the reader's confidence!
This 15 book series prepares girls for new social situations as they recognize their lives reflected in Billie’s “real world” adventures - from their first sleepover to ballet lessons, playing with boys and managing friendships.
I would love to add this collection to my classroom library. They will be available to students now and in years to come!
