This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are excited about learning, but many lack the financial support that can take them to even bigger places. We are located in an economically challenged neighborhood. My parents want to do better, but with two jobs or no jobs it makes it very hard to produce that awesome home library, that trip to the zoo, or just that quality time to communicate and find out what their likes and dislikes are. Fears and challenges etc...

In my classroom I try to provide that stability, that book that they've never read, that city or state they have never visited, but would love to learn about.

I'm trying to give them All I can!!

When it comes to reading we need more leveled books. I test my students on their reading level so every student knows what letter or number they are on. It would be great to have an organized library that that will allow them to read on level and have several topic options.

My Project

My students will benefit from these items because it will allow them to enhance their vocabulary and comprehension skills. It will allow for me to set up stations and give my kids that chance to work on the very skills needed to become better readers and a chance to master the STAAR test. Third grade is very important when it comes to reading, because when you become that avid reader your writing shows it. We strive to have Awesome Readers and Outstanding Writers and the two go hand in hand. We need these items and it would make a great difference in our classroom.
