My Project

Many of my students come from low-income households where access to books at home is limited or nonexistent. As a result, many of them read below grade level and struggle with vocabulary, comprehension, and confidence. By creating a vibrant, well-stocked classroom library, I hope to change that.

The right books can spark curiosity, build background knowledge, and make reading feel like an adventure instead of a chore.

With a variety of engaging, high-interest titles at multiple reading levels, students will be able to find books that meet them where they are—and encourage them to grow. This library will provide daily opportunities for independent reading, which research shows is one of the strongest ways to improve literacy skills.

More than just boosting test scores, these books will help my students see themselves as capable, joyful readers. They’ll discover new interests, explore different perspectives, and gain the confidence that comes from finishing a book on their own. For some, these books may be the start of a lifelong love of reading.
