This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I have been teaching for 16 years, and I still enjoy going to work every morning. Some days I don't see how I'm making a difference, but my students let me know I do. I'm always working in my classroom, and with my students, to improve my teaching style to better serve them.
My school is a Title I school with a 95% African American population.
My students are good readers, but struggle with comprehension especially with informational text. They also do not have a large academic vocabulary background and their critical-thinking skills are weak.
My Project
My classroom is a very inviting environment and I would like to provide a unique theme for my fifth graders. Providing an environment that students want to learn in will help them take pride and ownership of their learning. The new and beautiful decorations will be a great part of our environment. The math decorations/ aids will be helpful and blends in with the theme.
I am looking to decorate my classroom with the Carson Dellosa Chalkboard Brights decor.
I would like to incorporate bulletin board sets and other brightly colored borders to the theme.
The filing storage cart and hanging file folders will help me keep my students’ work and information neat and organized in one place.
