This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Living in Chicago has its perks! We get to experience all of the seasons. Unfortunately, that also means that recess is often moved indoors. Students typically use indoor recess to play on their computers or to finish classwork, diminishing the need for social skills. This project will support the development of social skills by providing students with a variety of board games that they can utilize during indoor recess.
Students will practice decision making, strategic thinking, problem solving, and conflict resolution.
This will also lead to a reduction of screen time.
My students are very deserving of this project. My learners are hardworking, clever, and fun to be around. They have a variety different learning styles. The students benefit from various hands-on activities. Their determination and resilience make my job so rewarding. Ninety-five percent of our school is considered low-income and receives free or reduced-price lunch. The student body consists of sixty-five percent Latino, thirty percent African-American, and five percent Caucasian.
