My students need 30 Write & Wipe lapboards, with markers and erasers.
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Jones's classroom raised $371
This project is fully funded
I just completed my first year of teaching in a 4th grade class. Nest year I will teach a 4th/5th grade split self-contained class in a Title 1 school in rural KY.
"Do you remember all those boring math facts you had to learn growing up? Well, students still must learn them today." With calculators and computers to do the work for them students often forget the importance of knowing the basic facts. I teach fourth and fifth grade in a low-income, Title 1 school. My students struggle with basic math facts and this causes lots of difficulties as the math curriculum gets harder and harder. In fourth and fifth grade, my students are faced with the challenge of not only knowing addition and subtraction facts but also learning multiplication and division facts. The children find this tedious and very difficult. I want to make math facts fun in my class.
One way I plan to do this is by having the children challenge the calculator. Seeing if they can answer questions faster than it. In order to do this we need write and wipe lapboards for the students. Our school has classroom calculator sets, but need the write and wipe lapboards, erasers, and markers. The boards will allow students to answer a variety of math questions without using a lot of paper. It will give them a new tool that easily allows them to display their answers as soon as they have written it making the activity more exciting and allowing them a better chance to answer the problem before the calculator does.
I want to take this time to thank you in advance for your generosity. I know I may be asking for a lot, but these items will make an enormous difference in my students' learning. I can already picture the excitement on their faces when they are able to find joy in Math!
