This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our students are creative, active, loving, full of questions and inspiring! They absolutely enjoy fun, hands-on activities.
They are active learners who need hands on activities throughout the day in order to allow them to explore and interact with one another.
Early Childhood Education is the focus of our school. We offer busing services which bring students from all over the city with different backgrounds and challenges. 75% of my students come from low income families. Although my students are exposed to different learning strategies and are constantly on the go while learning, they need new hands-on activities every week that allow them to focus and emerge as readers. By having this extra support we will be able to provide them with opportunities to meet their needs. These preschoolers are really an amazing group that fill my day with their smiles, questions and original ideas.
My Project
Flexible seating allows students to take charge of their learning and keep them engaged in the learning process. When it is time for learning centers, they will be able to choose a wobbling stool that can meet their sensory needs. Also light filters will allow students to have an environment with soothing light. By making sure students are comfortable and safe, motivation will arise to make the learning process more meaningful.
My students are more engaged and focused on their work and disruptive behavior decreases in the classroom.
The wobble stool or chair is designed to allow movement when children are required to sit and allow them to rock from side to side. Some children have a hard time processing where their body is in space and the constant motion of the wobble stools give the brain the feedback to understand where they are.
