My Project
The classroom is a combination of 4th and 5th grade students with autism in a self-contained setting. This is a newly opened program in the building and we are in dire need of school supplies that will address their educational and sensory needs. These materials are essential in an autism classroom to help them access the general education curriculum and at the same time provide support in addressing their individual goals.
The bean bag seats can provide a consistent level of support to the majority of a child's body while remaining comfortable and less distracted during instruction.
Bean bags can help our students maintain good posture and reduce restlessness, which can improve concentration and make them more receptive to learning. They can also help our students feel comfortable and welcome at school. Bean bags can be used for teaching inside and outside of the classroom. We can also use the bean bags as reading corners, and mini-libraries to help students read purposely.
