Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach 1st-grade special and general education. My classroom is always full of love, learning, and laughter! The students always love to play, learn, and care for one another. They love coming to school every single day. However, with the location of the school, the students face many adverse situations every single day. Most of the students live in shelters, foster homes, and city housing projects. Some of the students come into a class upset in the mornings because they didn’t get to eat, or their clothes don’t fit, or they simply don’t have a pencil.
However, with all those adversities, these amazing students come in with loving arms, eager to take over the world with their love and knowledge.
My Project
Learning this school year has been super tough for my first graders. Capturing their attention during lessons is also super hard. My students are all sitting six feet apart from their friends and sometimes, they don't know how to handle it.
Therefore, my students sitting on bean bag chairs, while I teach, will be fun and it will help them concentrate on what I am teaching.
These chairs will make them excited to come into their first grade class, especially since they will each have their own bean bag chair.
