My students need a comfortable place to enjoy reading their books.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students love to read and what makes reading more fun than reading on a bean bag chair.
Many of my students are refugees from many different countries such as Somalia, Myanmar, Congo, Turkey, etc.
They come to the United States and live in poverty. They have many challenges inside and outside the classroom. The students that are not refugees also struggle in school. My students have many language challenges as well as health challenges.
My Project
My students read for an hour a day, either with a partner or independently. When they read, they love to be comfortable and it helps keep them engaged in their reading when they are. Currently, they have to either sit at their desk or lay on the floor. I think they would enjoy reading so much more if they could sit on a fun bean bag.
This project will make a difference by doing something very little and simple that I predict will transform their belief of reading.
I think they will work harder if the reward is to sit on the bean bag chair while they read. Believe me, it's something as simple as that to help motivate them!
