Every day my students walk through our classroom door into their safe space. The place where they are accepted, cared about, and appreciated. Creating a calming and peaceful space for my students has become important to me. We live in a world that is sometimes uncertain and wanting my students to know that when they are in my class they can feel safe and at peace. Having a calming environment is essential. Frustration happens a lot with young people and sometimes they don't make the best choices with their actions. Having a calming space away from the rest of the class where someone can focus themselves, work through feelings, and calm their bodies and minds is essential within our learning space.

Inspired is how you feel when you walk through our school doors. Our core values of academics, community, pride, and justice allow us to advocate for all within this urban neighborhood by extending compassion and partnering with families to nurture lifelong learners, critical thinkers, and responsible citizens through STEM/STEAM, performing arts, visual arts, athletics, coding, computer science (CS), financial literacy, and social-emotional learning (SEL). We receive federal funding for programs that provide free breakfast/lunch for every student, and Title I services to economically disadvantaged individuals. Our inclusive class serves military families, gifted/talented students, ESL/ELL students, special education students, and tech-savvy students.
