Be The Apple Of Our Eye & Help Us Get An iMac

My students need two Apple computers--an Apple iMac and a MacBook Air! The kids are begging to start a graphic design and video design class. In order for this to happen, we need the right technology!

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"How cool would it be if we made a class video for graduation, versus a PowerPoint!" Student says to a group of friends, then turning to the teacher asks, "Can we?" "I want to design our own class logo!" Student exclaims to peers. "Lets show them the freshman class is the best"

Can you imagine being denied an elective class suggestion (one that you had 200 classmates agree to and sign a petition for) simply because an Apple computer wasn't "in the budget"?

It's heartbreaking! The students want a video and graphic design class (even if it is after-school), but in order to have one we need the technology! My students have never used an Apple computer and don't really understand the difference between PC and Mac. My students have great creative minds and a lofty goal of starting a video design and graphic design class, all they need are the tools! Did I also mention... My students are from the inner city of New York; the majority living in government housing or living with government assistance of some type. Most don't have access to technology and school is the only place to expose them to technology and the 'modern' age.

My Project

Donations to this project will improve my classroom and overall the school in general. The two Apple computers in this project will be used during class time as an academic station. Technology used in an academic station benefits all students, but specifically those who don't fall into the "norm" range and those who need additional time, differentiation, or multiple modalities in order to learn. In addition to being an academic station the two Apple computers in this project will also start a brand new after-school program centered around video production and graphic design. Hopefully we will prove to our school that technology matters! Convincing the school to include more technology into the budget.

Technology can be universally enjoyed and appreciated by all students.

In today's education system all students are pushed through the academic system, having little time to explore niches, such as technology, design and art. Bringing technology into the classroom allows students a chance to learn in a different way and tap into some of their hidden talents; like design, video production, and so forth. To find a student's full potential one must first offer them options and let them explore.
