This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students struggle to see themselves and their potential the way I see it. It isn't their fault but we they know they aren't as represented as some of their peers.
Students should feel seen and heard in all areas of their lives.
I am using these books and posters to begin a cultural and racial representation library - a corner where students feel seen and heard and appreciated for being themselves and not labeled. Our library has been closed all year and with low hopes it will reopen before the end of the year. I want to make sure my students' idea of a library until then is one that represents everyone equally.
All I want is for my students to be proud of themselves for everything they have accomplished and everything they will accomplish.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
