My Students
Do you remember how fun it was to create different art projects when you were in school? My students need art supplies for our classroom so that they can experience that feeling too.
My students come from vary different backgrounds.
More than half speak a language other than English at home (Nepalese, Hmong, and Spanish). 70% are also eligible for free/reduced lunch. They are eager to learn, love to try new things and are generally excited to be in school. They attend a school in a big city in Wisconsin.
My Project
During this school year we have been learning about the different cultures that people identify with in our classroom. Later this year we will be participating in an all-school multicultural awareness night. My students will be teaming up with another class to create individual projects celebrating all of the things that make them unique and who they are.
I am requesting various art supplies for the students to use to create these projects. This includes colored pencils, paints, construction paper, tissue paper, etc.
This project is important to me because not all of my students always feel proud of who they are.
This includes not just the students who speak other languages, but also the students who speak English. I want to help my students feel proud of themselves and all of the different things that make them the creative, wonderful, smart people that they are.
By having this project funded, my students will feel proud to create their project and share it with the community.
