My Project
For this project, I am requesting copies of a graphic novel about the Arthurian Legend. Through a partnership I established with Lincoln Center Theater, my students will see the new Broadway production of Camelot this spring. Before taking them to the theater, I'd love to introduce them to the world of King Arthur. This graphic novel will help students keep track of all the characters and places while giving them a visual to help them understand the story. We will read the book together in class, in conjunction with music from Camelot and other literary texts, such as Le Morte d'Arthur and The Sword in the Stone, to help students make connections.
Students' knowledge of King Arthur, Merlin, and Excalibur will help them appreciate the musical they see performed and give them much-needed cultural capital.
