As the school year comes to a close, I am excited to share a special project that my students and I look forward to every year—a fun and engaging restaurant unit designed to practice essential math skills! This hands-on experience allows students to collaborate in creating their own restaurant menu, take orders, and practice adding money and making change. It’s a fantastic way for them to apply what they’ve learned in a real-world context. At the culmination of our unit, we invite families to join us for a delightful restaurant experience where the children take orders, serve meals, and showcase their math skills.
To make our restaurant day a success and create lasting memories, we are in need of some party supplies to dress up our lunchroom and enhance the experience for our guests.
Here’s a list of items we would greatly appreciate:
-Chef hats, aprons, and name tags to help my students look like professional waiters and waitresses
-Black construction paper for crafting their menus, along with scissors for cutting out menu items
-Guest checks to help them showcase their math skills during the event
-Placemats, napkins, plates, and cups to set the table for our guests
-A balloon blower and balloon displays to add a festive touch
-Small treats to serve families while the children take their orders
