My Students
It is the age of digital natives. Our children are exposed to technology everyday. We need to integrate more technology into our classrooms so that our students can use technology as a learning tool.
I have two groups of students.
They are Kindergarten and First Grade students. They come from different socioeconomic groups. They attend a high-poverty school. However, this does not affect their passion about learning. They love to learn new concepts and ideas. They are always excited about learning!
My Project
This laptop computer will be used to access online learning tools like videos and interactive websites like BrainPop, Khan Academy and other online tools as well as for research. Students will also use this tool to familiarize themselves with the newly mandated test, the Smarter Balance Assessment Consortium. This assessment has been designed to run with the Mac OS browser, and there's another new assessment for Mandarin.
I will also use this computer to access online resources that help students find new reading books at their appropriate reading level as well as connecting it to our projector for digital demonstrations and presentations.
In today's age, kids are surrounded by technology, but they do not necessarily know how to use it as a learning tool.
Many of my students lack internet access at home, which makes it extremely important that they have access at school. By exposing them to digital learning tools and guiding them in their exploration of the digital world, I can better prepare them for the future where the use of technology is absolutely crucial.
