My Project
As a teacher, I enjoy seeing the academic success of students. I work in a high-poverty, high-minority school where many of my students struggle with academic success, especially in the area of Math and Science.
Science concepts can be difficult to understand, but imagine how my students would love and comprehend the science that can be supported with the addition of hands-on learning centers that reinforce the curriculum.
I am engaging students in a gingerbread house-building challenge to develop computational thinking and computer science skills. This Gingerbread House STEM Challenge is a great way to add academic rigor to a fun activity! Students will design their house, budget expenses, build and take pictures or a video of the building to share, and finally reflect on the experience regarding the relevance to computational thinking and CTE.
