Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Students are anxiously awaiting the arrival of their art teacher. These students are wide-eyed and curious to explore the days planned lesson. They can't wait to express their imaginative ideas using varied art supplies.

Our student population is over two thousand.

Almost all qualify for free, federally funded lunch. Our students are eager to learn and participate and are bright, talented and artistic. 95% are English Language Learners. My students love art because they can express themselves without having to struggle with words.

My Project

This project will give students access to various art materials including drawing pencils, colored pencils, watercolor paints and color wheels. The children will participate in an open-ended art activity to explore their imaginations through color. They will also be ls using wire to create 3 dimensional forms. The final activity will be an art display that explores the varied ways that art can be created to express an idea.

My students would be thrilled to have quality art materials such as drawing pencils, colored pencils, watercolor paints, bright colored crayons, and blending tools.

For many, art class is a place to express themselves freely, without being inhibited by language. It provides them with much needed confidence. Art class gives them an opportunity to have fun, socialize and feel good about themselves and the art they create.
