it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are enthusiastic young musicians whom are excited to have a formal Music Program offered to them for the very first time! Each week, they enter class, excited to make music.
Our Music Program is completely new, serving all of the K-5 student population.
In our program, students will learn to read, write, and perform a variety of music from a variety of cultures.
Your donation will serve to purchase a partial set of class guitars: a set of instruments in which students have expressed a huge amount of interest!
My Project
When I began our Music program last year, many students associated "Music Class" with "learning to play an instrument" -- Of all the instruments that students ask about, the most popular and emphatic requests are to learn to play guitar.
I am requesting set of seven guitars.
By beginning to assemble a class set of guitars, my students will be able to further round out a comprehensive music education that includes singing, theory and composition as well as learning many of the major instrument families.
Learning an instrument aids students in developing mathematical and analytical skills, as well as many "life skills" including practice skills, growth mindset, self-discipline, regulation, autonomy and social emotional development.
