My Students

Each of my students is wonderfully unique! Curious, kind, and amazing, their willingness to tackle any challenge drives me to be the best teacher I can possibly be, which makes me want to create a fun, welcoming environment where learning may happen.

Approximately half of our school is economically disadvantaged.

With nearly 33% of my kiddos receiving educational accommodations or modifications, learning isn't always easy for them, but that does not deter them from giving 100% when they are at school.

My Project

Battle of the Books is a reading incentive program in which a group of students will volunteer to join a book club of sorts and read the books from a selected list from fall until early spring. They will then come together in groups to demonstrate their abilities and knowledge of the books they have read though friendly competition.

The purpose of Battle of the Books is to encourage students to read good books while having fun competing with their peers.

There are 10 books on the 2020-2021 book list and I am asking to provide a set of each book for each child participating. In the event of virtual learning this fall, the students will have their own library of books to read at home and we will come together via online meetings to discuss what they have read.

These students will gain knowledge and enjoyment from reading these great books, sharing them with friends, and enjoying the competition with other groups across the district.
