Battle of the Books Makes Reading Exciting!

My Students

I serve as the Media Coordinator in an elementary school nestled in the heart of Mecklenburg County. My scholars are a part of a International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme that strives to develop young people who are knowledgeable, responsible, and internationally minded citizens who respect the variety of cultures and attitudes of our diverse world.

Our lively Eagles enter daily ready to learn, discover, and explore through structured inquiry as a vehicle for learning.

Teachers strive to nurture and challenge our students to develop the knowledge and skills to become lifelong learners and promote the attitudes and learner profile of the Primary Years Programme,.

My Project

I am seeking support to obtain the 2021-2022 Battle of the Books titles so that my students will be able to compete in this year's Battle of the Books Competition. Competing in the Battle of the Books competition will promote reading excitement and enthusiasm throughout our school community.

This will be my first year leading my students in the competition and giving them hands on copies of these books will help our team have a great start.

This year's book titles are diverse in reading levels as well as genres. This provides a great opportunity for students to select and enjoy books that they might not necessarily pick up on their own. As a former Battle of Books competitor, I have first-hand experience with how this competition helps students foster a love for reading. I'm thrilled to share this experience with my team.
