Battle of the Books 2019!

Help me give my students grade level appropriate books that are engaging and are used in our district wide Battle of the Books competition!

My Students

My classroom participates in a 4th grade gifted Spanish Immersion program. We live in a high poverty population, and these students come from a variety of backgrounds and experiences. We spend half the day learning English reading, writing, math, and social studies, and the other half learning Spanish and science.

Our students work hard to succeed and learn!

We participate in a lot of engaging and hands-on activities to learn the English and Spanish languages and develop critical-thinking and communication skills.

My Project

Every year my school district holds a Battle of the Books competition. Students read from a selected reading list, form teams, and then answer questions in a competition about each of the books. This is a very exciting even for our school and students that participate go above and beyond by reading the books and learning to work together!

In order to help as many students as possible participate in this competition, I would like to have a copy of each of the books in our classroom library.

This will help them get familiar with the books, have time to read them, and have access to read as many as possible! These books are fun and engaging for my fourth graders. Some are classics, while others are new! Having these books for this year and the years to come will help all my students develop a love for reading that can last a lifetime.
