This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Inquisitive minds, warm hearts, helpful hands, and sponges for brains. These are just some of the ways you could describe the students that walk through our classroom doors each day.
Our students, with limited English skills, live in a high-poverty, big-city community where the goal is to help them blossom into productive learners and speakers.
Their willingness to work hard and achieve is evident in all that they do. They may come from homes where paying the rent and buying food is the priority. Therefore, it is so important for us to support them in as many ways as we can to give them every chance to succeed.
My Project
By providing us with a collection of sturdy book baskets, we will be able to sort all the classroom books that the children read by reading level and genre.
It is proven that the more you read, the more vocabulary you learn, and the better you read.
By having the books sorted by mystery, social studies, science, etc., and easily accessible to all the students, they will be able to browse and pick books that they like and that will help them grow as readers and students. Having an organized classroom library will make them responsible for their own choices and successes in reading.
