Basketball Equipment for Athletic Program

My students need 2 portable basketball hoops with adjustable height, and 5 indoor basketballs.

My Students

Our school is trying to start a basketball program for our 2nd-5th grade students. Most of the students who will be in the program have never played organized basketball and this will be their first time being on a basketball team. Our students are very enthusiastic about starting a basketball team.

Our school is a bilingual school where our students begin to learn Spanish from the time they are in Pre-K until they reach 5th grade & many of our students are English as a second language learners.

We are an inner city school, which means that many kids live in places that lack equipment or space for them to be able to learn about teamwork or be able to learn the rules and basic skills of a sport. Students' at our school enjoy being active and are always very excited about movement, sports, & physical education. Students are always asking about ways that they can live healthy life style. At our school we try and teach our kids how to be leaders of the world through physical activity and healthy living. This will help the students be ready for any sports they might want to play in middle school or high school. They will live a healthier & more active life. Being on a team will help a student become a more dedicated & responsible person as well as better athletes and better teammates.

My Project

With the new equipment my students will be able to have real game experiences. With the basketball hoops, students will be able to learn the rules while playing basketball as well as learn and practice the basic skills to be able to play the game of basketball. With the new basketball hoops, students will be able to practice in game situations and also be able to play scrimmages and games. With the new indoor basketballs students will be able to practice and play with actual indoor basketballs rather than the tough rubber outdoor basketballs.

My project will improve my classroom by giving my students the opportunity to learn to work as a team by playing basketball and learning the basic rules & skills with the adequate/appropriate equipment.

With these donations, my students will be able to play on an organized basketball team and it will also help them stay active and healthy through a different activity aside from the activities they normally do. Now students will be able to be active in an environment that is safe and positive.
