Basics on No Budget

My students need construction and drawing paper, as well as a shelf to store it so it doesn't get ruined in our classroom.

My Students

Every stare at a white piece of paper and not know where to begin? A variety of papers in a classroom allow for not just a variety of projects, but opportunities to practice using colored paper as a jumping off point. It also allows for more collage opportunity the more colors you have to work with.

We are a Chicago-based charter school, serving 480 Pre-K through 8th grade students.

Many are from refugee families, many are from low income families. At a young age, they already have stories from their lives that would seem unbelievable to most of us. The art room is a safe place for these children to tell their stories. They learn to express themselves and to think creatively in a classroom where many of the lessons have a theme of tolerance, peace and embracing diversity.

My Project

This paper will serve as our paper for the year to draw, paint, and collage. We have very little paper left from last year, and have no known budget for this upcoming school year. I'd like to have a variety of papers for my students, to create many projects for this school year.

Donations to this project will allow more flexibility in creating projects for this upcoming school year, all we are left with is a few packs of white drawing paper, I'd like to have more drawing/multimedia paper as well as construction paper.

Our current paper shelf is missing a back and the papers often get bent, torn, or spilled on, so the shelf would allow safe storage and efficient use of our paper!
