This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students love classroom games and love to work on special projects. This becomes difficult and expensive since we have to purchase the supplies ourselves. This limits greatly what we can do in the classroom.

Our students are curious, smart, and excited about learning.

We love to bring in different ways of learning, such as themed rotations for the entire 4th grade. This year we did a smore's themed writing camp and an Out of This World math and reading mini camp where we encouraged everyone to dress 'spacey'. The students loved this and it creates excitement for learning. Many of our students have limited or no access to family vacations, summer camp, etc. These special activities at school are the things that create experiences they will always remember.

My Project

In a school, we use lots of paper throughout the year. The card stock I am requesting will be used for making classroom games, encouragement cards for the students and for special projects like making 3D shapes in math. Glue sticks and color pencils will be used for bringing art and creativity into the classroom. In elementary school, we use markers to create charts with the students because that creates a colorful, fun environment and the different colors stimulate the brain. The copy paper is unfortunately needed because school budgets shrink every year and access to copy paper is limited and use of it is tightly controlled.

This project is important for our school because although we receive less funding to educate our students, the students still come.

They deserve to be educated and we try to accomplish this goal as best we can. Many times, we use our own money to make up for what the government removes from our budgets. This is why resources such as Donors Choose are so important.
