My students need basic school supplies that will aid in skill-building practice. These items include agendas and folders for keeping track of homework and important events, as well as storage to facilitate effective classroom management.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I serve students within the largest school district in the country a district that serves the highest-needs special education students in our school system. My students fall in the highest-needs category with nearly 100% receiving free and reduced price lunch. Some students live in shelters and do not have stable living conditions. It is up to me to provide not just a learning environment, but a safe sanctuary for my students. With learning and behavioral difficulties, these students receive services year-round, so engaging, targeted instruction is vital!
I believe that, as a teacher, it is my duty and dream to assist children with special needs in better comprehending their extraordinary potential.
Seemingly insurmountable challenges can be tackled, and this passion best captures why I entered into the field of Special Education. I know these individuals have the potential to exceed expectations, and I hope to be someone who enables them to see that in themselves!
My Project
Each item will impact my students in a profound way. The foundation for effective instruction is consistent classroom management. I implement this through various systems which establish unwavering expectations for my students. I hope to raise enough money to purchase several items for my students and classroom so that we can successfully practice such routines. These items include homework agendas, folders, headphones, drawer mobile organizers, book bins, file boxes, and a bean bag chair.
These materials will enable me to create systems within my classroom that will aid in equipping students with essential lifelong skills, such as organization, independence, consistency, and focused listening.
Students will use their agendas to write down their daily homework and important events. Students will utilize their personal folders to safely transport documents between school and home. The headphones can plug into tablets that we received through a previous Donors Choose project and allow students to use volume when practicing with reading and math apps. The headphones will also come in handy when blocking out extraneous noise in order to better focus on assigned tasks. The drawer mobile organizers will be the designated area where students return their homework. The book bins and file boxes will be a station in the classroom where students can seek more work/activities if they have finished the assigned task. Students can sit on the bean bag chair in our classroom library during group or independent reading.
The items listed above will greatly aid me in creating a positive classroom environment with set routines and systems. These routines will urge students to practice organization, independence, consistency, and focused listening within the classroom... which will ideally transfer to outside the classroom as well!
