Basics for Back to School

My Students

Our school is located in a rural, mountainous, and geographically remote area of West Virginia. Over three-quarters of our students come from low-income households. To ensure these students are College and Career Ready when they graduate high school, we need to give them rich learning experiences with problem solving.

My Project

I want to welcome my students back to school in a refreshed classroom that is a welcoming place to work by adding some new posters and bins to organize our supplies. A great classroom should also be stocked with some essential items like Kleenex tissues and Clorox disinfecting wipes to keep our space clean and safe.

My students love to work on math problems together at the dry erase board in my classroom.

Brain research has shown us that students think better when they can stand up and they remember more when they have a chance to engage in mathematical conversations with their peers. The Post-It Dry Erase wall covering will allow me to resurface some old, unusable chalkboards in my classroom and double the amount of whiteboard space available for small groups to work together. The whiteboard cleaning wipes will help us keep our new space looking great!
