This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My high school students struggle often to bring the basics to class. They often walk around the school day using little golf pencils or broken wooden pencils without erasers. Often, this makes my students feel inferior to their peers who usually only carry mechanical pencils or pens.
Feeling left out shouldn't happen because of a pencil.
These basic needs like pencils, paper, and index cards should be a given to all students in any school, regardless of their financial status.
Laminating their work will not only preserve it, but allow for display of it around the classroom or school to serve as a constant reminder that their work is worthy of a "fancy lamination!" It boosts their motivation and reminds them daily that they deserve to be there just as much as anybody else, especially when their work is showcased around the room.
