Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are in grades nine through twelve. We are a small, public school tucked away in the mountains. My students struggle with their emotions due to varying disabilities.

We practice Community Based Instruction (CBI).

CBI is educational instruction in naturally occurring community environments providing students real-life​ experiences. My students need intensive instruction in functional and daily living skills. We run a school-wide coffee shop where employ-ability skills are learned through actual daily sales. They are responsible for completing their biweekly time cards.

My Project

Our class learns best with hands-on activities. Our classroom needs consist of a variety of items. Our classroom is considered the most restricted due to our various emotional and behavioral needs. We try to help the school by sharpening pencils for district wide testing. A heavy duty pencil sharpener will be perfect for the high demand of pencils we receive.

The time-cards are for our coffee shop.

The students are responsible for clocking in/out and receive a classroom paycheck.

The timer is for an auditory-impaired to student that will benefit from the flashing light as a begin/end prompt.

The headphones are for my students that require text-to-talk assistance for their reading materials.

The file folders will help me keep my data together and organized.
