My Students

My students are middle school students of great diversity from a low income urban area with a large percentage of special needs students. Each year 90% of my students qualify for free or reduced-priced lunches. My students have so much to offer, and I would love to offer a positive environment for them to feel success in learning.

My students do not have basics such as school supplies, learning tools, and hands-on learning.

My students will be bringing these supplies back and forth with them from hybrid to in-person class.

My Project

As we prepare for going back to school or at-home learning, I want to plan ahead and make sure my students go back in a safe way. I have caddies for each of my students. My goal is to create a caddy that they can keep at school that only the touch. Having their pencils, sharpeners, calculators, and other basic supplies would allow germs to not spread across all of our materials. Visual rules for the classroom are needed if we go hybrid. My students live in a low-income area and cannot provide these basic supplies. These basic supplies would allow my students to go back to school or be able to learn in a hybrid model in the safest way possible.
