My Students
My students attend school in the South Bronx every day for a chance to improve their current skills and to continue to succeed! These are all children who come from low-income families and have special needs, specifically autism. Many of my students are non-verbal, facing challenges daily of communicating with peers and adults at school, as well as with their family and friends at home and in their community. These students receive therapy (speech-language, physical, occupational and/or counseling) multiple times a week, either individually, or in a group. Each child has an Individualized Education Plan (IEP), which requires all tasks and activities to be adjusted and changed based on the skills of each student. My students are always appreciative of new materials and items they receive!
My Project
The supplies that I am requesting for my students are basic materials to support the needs of all students who are multidisciplinary learners. Many of my students are non-verbal so these materials will help create visual schedules, file folder activities, and many other visual cues.
The donations to this project will not only help to improve and increase our students' attention and focus, but also you will ultimately help to increase their overall academic achievement.
With your help, the students will be able to simply focus on the academic materials at hand, communicate with their peers and the adults in their environment!! All support is appreciated!
