This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My classroom consists of low-income students who due to the impacts of COVID-19, many have struggled to perform at their academic grade level. The document camera will be used daily as a teaching tool to show students strategies and skills. To become a good reader, students need to be exposed to different texts and genres of children's literature. The books will be used daily as interactive read alouds. My students will get to see and hear fluent reading as well as being able to interact with the text. The labels will be used to organize my classroom library of books. The pillows will be used for my classroom library so students can lay on them when reading a good book.

Providing my students with basic materials and supplies for our classroom will give them the opportunity to learn everyday.

Often times, reading a book together in our classroom is the only exposure they get to hear a fluent reader. These basic classroom supplies will provide daily interactive read alouds and will give my young learners exposure to see how fun reading can be and help them to create a love for books!
